Four Stories, One Festival
The Uptown Asian Festival is an annual celebration of Asian cultures in Toronto. For the 2024 edition, I created the festival's key visuals: a set of dense, joyful illustrations celebrating what the festival is actually made of.
I built the artwork around four themes, music and dance, food, animals, and languages, each one packed with details from across Asian cultures: instruments and dancers, steaming noodle bowls, pandas and koi, and greetings in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Hindi and more, all sharing one loud, happy palette. The illustrations then went big: printed across banners, the entrance structures, and the lantern installation, wrapping the festival grounds in the artwork so visitors walked through the visuals rather than just past them.
