Public Health, Made Friendly

Public Health, Made Friendly

At the start of COVID-19, the United Nations put out an open call to creatives to help slow the spread with public health messages that needed to land across different languages, cultures, and platforms.

Health guidance is easy to tune out, especially when it feels clinical or stern. So I built a small cast of characters instead: a face mask, a pair of hands, a house, and the virus itself, each friendly enough to disarm the subject without trivialising it. I used them to design a set of social media posts carrying the core safety messages, simple, warm, and wordless enough to travel anywhere. The content was made available for people around the world to download through the UN's campaign site.
